Cai McCann

Cai McCann is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at the NYU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, working at the Visualization and Data Analytics Research Center (VIDA) under the supervision of Prof. Robert Krueger. She was selected as part of the 2025 cohort of the NSF & Computing Research Association CRA Grad4US Fellowship. Her interests include developing visual analytics and vision focused tools for spatial omics and high dimensional biomedical image analysis.
Before joining NYU, Cai worked in computational biology at the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard with Dr. Sami Farhi and then at Mass General Brigham/Harvard Medical School with Dr. Ruxandra Sirbulescu, developing novel spatial biology profiling techniques and analyses for exploration and therapeutics in neuropsychiatric disorders, developmental biology, and cancer. She completed her Honors B.A. at the University of Vermont, researching population genetics modeling of Chagas disease parasite dynamics with Prof. Lori Stevens. Cai also enjoys hiking, tennis, painting, and baking.
