BioSET is an open-source pipeline and web based multi-resolution volume renderer for finding biomarker interactions in 3D multiplexed immunofluorescence images.
We present BioSET, an interactive visual analytics web application for exploring terabyte-scale 3D biological tissue data at cellular resolution. Modern 3D immunofluorescence microscopy can capture many protein biomarkers across large tissue volumes, but identifying meaningful biomarker co-localizations remains difficult due to scale, sparsity, and spatial complexity. BioSET addresses this by combining scalable multi-volume visualization with guided exploration of biomarker co-localization patterns across spatial scales. It summarizes co-localization frequencies with UpSet plots and links them to spatial regions through 3D grid-based visual cues embedded in the volume, helping users move from global patterns to biologically meaningful regions of interest.
